Dr. Patricia M. Simone, director of the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development within the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), gives a bit of personal history and then describes her engagement with CDC's response to the 2013-16 Ebola epidemic. Dr. Simone managed the deployment of Epidemic Intelligence Service officers during the response.
